Course 7 Wrap Up

Here is your assignment for the course wrap up.

Answer the following four questions.

1. In your own words of one sentence (or a very short paragraph), what was your course about as a whole?

2. What were three important words in your course?

3. What did you think those words meant before you looked them up in the dictionary? Did your thinking about the meaning of the word change as you went through the course? If so, give your changed definition. What dictionary definition seemed to be closes to your guess for the meaning for each word. Do this for each of three words.

4. What were the major parts of this course for you? (How was the marerial divided up? Don't divide and divide. You should be able to identify any where from 2 to 7 major divisions in your course material. If you need help with this one, email me.

Place your finished course wrap-up assignments in the comments section below. This is worth four points.

The course was about preparation for a man to enter the ministry and learn more about the practical side of it.

The words I used were papacy, magisterial, and emulation. The definitions changed from what I had thought they were. Here is how they went.

1. papacy
guess-church ran by one man
2nd guess- something to do with
the pope
definition- the system of
ecclesiastical government
in which the pope is
recognized as the supreme
head

2. magisterial
guess- a simple, foundational
state
2nd guess- headed by a person
of authority
definition- of, pertaining to,
or befitting, a master;
authoritative; weighty; of
importance or consequence

3. emulation
guess- to try to think like
someone
2nd guess- to try to be like
like something
definition- effort or desire to
equal of excel others

The major parts were divided into four sections.

1. Biblical Perspectives
2. Preparatory Perspectives
3. Personal Perspectives
4. Pastoral Perspectives

My course this round definitely was about church growth as a whole. The dvd was more broad and informative on growth, the book focused more on the "unchurched" and the pastors of churches that were growing and keeping attendance up.

1. Unchurched
guess- people whe weren't brought up in church.
def- The book decribed them as someone who hasnt been in church except sporadically for the last 10 years.

2. Doctrine
guess- a belief
def- A belief or tenet, especially about philosophical or theological matters.
The body of teachings of a religion, or a religious leader, organization, group or text. Doctrine turned out to be a big deal with the "formerly unchurched".

3. Ecumenism
guess- I really had no clue!
def-the idea of a Christian unity in the literal meaning: that there should be a single Christian Church.

The Major Parts were divided into 2 parts
1. The Formerly Unchurched
2. The Pastors of these successful churches and how they think.

THe dvd was broad, but could be divided into the History of the church and the 2nd part is tips on everything from soul-winning to VBS.
