Chapter Three: Deuteronomy: ATaste of Bittersweet, talks about one of the heros of the bible, Moses. The thought that impressed me most about Moses and Mr. Yancey brought it to my attention for maybe the first time was the fact that Moses "loved" his people. In reading about the children of Israel before I always seen them as a burden to Moses, but Moses had the love of God and the love to see his mission through to the end although the end did'nt turn out like we thought that it should, but it turned out the way God wanted to. By the way in the tranfiguation of Jesus there were two appeared with him Moses was one of them and guess where he was standing, yes, in the promised land.

I remember the part you're talking about. The way he puts it made me feel the same way, but I was always amazed in that story how merciful Moses was. How he always was pleading for God to give them another chance. I've once mentioned in a sermon, would I be like Moses or like the childeren of Israel. There are times I feel Like I've been both.

It must have been hard, at times, to love the poeple. Moses knew what they needed and what they could easily get. Sometimes it is frustrating to see people that you love do the wrong things or live the wrong way. I can imagine the time Moses must have been on his knees in prayer for the children of Israel.
