Hello guys, this week I'm reading chapter five of Phillip Yancey's book titled "The Bible Jesus Read", and the title of chapter five is "Ecclesiastes: The End of Wisdom."

Well I've got to tell you all that I sure am glad that I have studied Bro. Robert Shanks book entitled" Life in the Son: A Study of the Doctrine of Perseverance", because that is what it took for me to get through this chapter. Not that it was boring or that it was to intellectual(over my head) but just the fact that I don't think Mr. Yancey made a point to report on other than the fact that he states Ecclesiastes is one of the most confusing books in the Bible. He talked some about "existentialism" a word that even after looking it up I still can't pronounce and about authorship of this "see I told you so" book of our great Bible. So I'll just tell you like it is I love some of the passages in the book but as for this writing as a whole it will take more persevering in order for me to like this book.

It was good to see you guys at the preachers' meeting last night. I really enjoyed the good singing and awesome preaching. I sure am glad that we have good men of God that will preach the truth. That message last night has stirred me all day long!

Solomen is known for asking for wisdom when God offered him anything. He seemed to experience "everything under the sun". Can we just take his advice? Or do we all have to go thru it to learn it?

The Quarterly was really good today. Sorry you missed it, Bro. Roger. I hope your tooth gets better quickly.

Well I might have been to harsh on Solomon and his writings. It is hard to figure a man could have asked for anything and asked for wisdon, thank you Sean for reminding me of that. I know this, that apart from everything else in our vanity we still have Jesus Christ and Solomon even recognized that. Putting my earlier thoughts aside the book does point to God and that alone makes it worth reading. Amen and Amen.

It reminds me of us who seek advice from an elder. I really am thankful for advice from men who have went through things before me. I also think that the best teacher is experience. I think that there is a balance to find in between taking advice and experiences.
