The title of my course is NT Survey: The Gospels. The instructor is Dr. Kevin Hester. I will be watching four DVDs a week. The title of my book is JESUS AND THE GOSPELS. The author is Craig L. Blomberg. I will be reading two chapters this week.

16. Jesus' Judean Ministry

17. Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection

The first DVD talks about the search for the historical Jesus. It sounds like a group of liberals trying to find a way to disprove that Jesus was who He said He was. Some people probably were in it for good reasons, but some were not. They tried to compare what was known about Jesus in the Gospels and what other people had written about Him.

Tyler, you might find a statement made by one of the liberals and show why you disagree with it--using on of the four methods I mention in The Beginning of Week 7 post.

I try to look at the people, or shows that try to give other senarios on what could have happened to Jesus in a way thats OK. What I 've noticed in watching them (I find them to be interesting) that they still leave the option of a choice. I'm sure it helps make some people not to beleive, but some decide that when they hear the Bible. I think these people are trying to convince themselves.

One topic in the DVD is about the genealogies in Matthew and Luke. They are both correct, but different at the same time. There are two ways of thinking that are popular with scholars. One is that Matthew is showing lineage from Joseph's side and Luke is showing Mary's side. The other way is that Matthew is showing the legalor royal line while Luke is showing Joseph's line. Either way, Jesus comes from the line of David.

Scholars also point to the time that Jesus is in the temple at twelve. They say that this was the first Bar Mitzvah. It is kind of an interesting point. What do you guys think?

Hey Tyler, I'm sorry but don't know anything at all about "Bar Mitzvah, but the lineage Luke gives goes all the way back to God rather the son of God. Is'nt that just like God to plan out Plan A and not having any need for a Plan B or C. Do you think God has full control of the lives of his people or do you think he just makes it work?

I think that God has full control of everything. I don't think anything surprises God. He knows all things. They say that a really good chess player can see at least twenty moves deep. God can see eternally!!

One thing that I read in my book that I disagree with is some scholars ideas about the resurrection of Jesus. Some say that He did not actually die on the cross, that He just passed out. Then over the weekend, He revived and His disciples let Him out. All I have to say is that these guys are misinformed. Jesus did die on the cross and was resurrected on the third day and He is coming back!
